Goji Berry plants bear slightly elongated, red fruit about the size of a raisin. Goji berries can be picked from mid summer until late fall. Berries will be a deeper red as they ripen and their skins will look shiny. Goji plants will sometimes start to produce fruit in the second season, but will not go into full production until the third year when planted in the ground.
Can be grown as a hedge or trained to grow on a trellis growing 8-10' tall. When planted in containers or pots, you may see berries the first or second season rather than the third when grown in the ground.
Soak bare root plants in room temperature water for 15 minutes. Plant in well-drained soil in full sun (afternoon shade if temps are above 100ºF).
Dig a hole and place Goji plant a couple of inches deeper than the crown of the plant (where the roots meet the stem). Fill the hole with soil around the plant, gently tamping as you fill with soil.
Water well and continue to keep plant moist until you see new growth sprouting (usually 2-3 weeks). Add two inches of mulch to help with moisture retention and well control.
Prune in winter.
Avoid planting Goji Berries near potatoes and tomatoes. Prefers soil pH between 6.5 and 8.2.
Water well during the first year of growth - after this they will be drought tolerant and will need little attention.
